Polymer Release Agent-Cleaner and Restorer

MR-CleanerCA350

Product Description:
GruberCare™ MR Cleaner CA Polymer Release Agent-Cleaner and Restorer is blend of organic solvents designed to remove dirt, grease and contaminants from a mold surface. The GruberCare MR Cleaner CA is particularly efficient at removing silicone, wax or other types of buildup on the mold. GruberCare MR Cleaner CA is designed not to soften or dull mold materials (such as GRP). Consequently, GruberCare MR Cleaner CA can be used on any metallic or thermo set mold. GruberCare Cleaner CA should be used immediately prior to the application of GruberCare MR Sealer CA or other Release Agents.

NOTICE: This product is not to be supplied, sold or offered for sale within the State of California, and especially not within the jurisdiction of the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD).

Product Benefits:

  • Efficient cleaner
  • Medium dry time
  • Non-chlorinated solvents
  • Efficient removal of styrene build-up while leaving a protective coating of release on the surface
  • Versatile, can be used on all mold surfaces
Physical Properties:
  • Appearance - Clear, colorless liquid

  • Specific Gravity - 0.80 g/cc
  • Flash Point - < 69.8°F (21°C)
  • Shelf life - Three years

Applications:
  • Cleans and protects non-gelcoated molds, i.e. B-side of closed molds
  • Periodic cleaning of molds during production cycles
  • Quick touch-up to high-wear or drag areas

Note: Mold cleaning must be performed in a well-ventilated area. Solvent resistant gloves and eye protection must be worn during this process.

Application:
Please read Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) before use. Heavy build-up and resin deposits may be removed by an abrasive medium, e.g. polishing compound or even shot blasting, prior to using the GruberCare Cleaner CA. If necessary, polish mold to desired level of gloss prior to using the GruberCare Cleaner CA.
  1. Generously apply the GruberCare Cleaner CA to a clean, dry cotton cloth.

  2. Wipe over mold surface covering an area of approximately 0.5m2.

  3. With a second dry cloth, wipe off the wet film. Do not allow the wet film to dry before wiping off as this will simply redeposit contaminants picked-up by the solvent. Continue wiping until the mold surface is dry.

  4. Repeat Steps 1 -3 on the adjacent area. Ensure a good overlap with the previous area to ensure the entire mold surface is cleaned.

  5. If either cloth becomes dirty, or if the second cloth becomes wet, replace with a fresh clean cloth and repeat Steps 1-4.

  6. Frequently re-apply GruberCare Cleaner CA to the wet cloth.

  7. Repeat until mold is completely cleaned.

Test for cleanliness:
Visually inspect the mold for signs of dirt or streaks. If necessary, repeat cleaning procedure in that area. To test the cleanliness of the surface, apply a standard pressure sensitive tape (e.g. masking tape) to the mold surface. When the tape is removed from the surface, LIGHT resistance should be observed. If the tape sticks firmly, repeat the cleaning process.

Note:
If polishing a GRP mold, it is recommended that a non-wax containing polish be used. If a polish containing a wax is used, the wax produces an artificial gloss that will be removed by the GruberCare Cleaner CA hence dulling the finish.
